bought some cd's this weekend

the mrs and i went to the sound warehouse saturday. many of you might fondly remember the place at hampton and chippewa as Peaches. the place is pretty much the same, i guess, except they don't have the wooden crates around anymore.

i went looking for johnny cash. after hearing "Hurt" on the radio the umpteenth time over the years, i figured it was time to add whatever album this was from to my collection. if only that were easy.

you see, there must be 30 jc cd's. some are originals, some are compilations. Hurt, originally by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, really comes to life with jc. so does Soundgarden's Rusty Cage. Of course, both of those songs were not on the same cd, so i just bought one. it's called American IV: The Man Comes Around. the title song is brilliant, as good or better than Hurt in my estimation. my other favorites include Give My Love to Rose, I Hung My Head, and a remake of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus. Powerful cd, for sure.

growning up, dad always had 1430 WIL tuned on on the AM radio. going to the grocery store, or Ontario, or traveling to the races, locally we had WIL and elsewhere he'd find some other country station. it was funny, because he never really seemed like he liked music. i think he just liked it as background. anyway, i can still hear mearl haggard, willy nelson, tammy wynett, and the dozens of johnny cash songs. whenever i hear one now, i'm instantly taken back to the front seat of the '74 torino, smoke and all.

i'm hooked now, and i guess i'll have to buy more of those 30 or so jc cd's.

The jury was out on you but now I know you've got got good tastes considering the fact that you listen to Johnny Cash. Unchained is a good modern era record. There are numerous records from the sixties you should listen to as well.

Did you know that the Riverfront Times ranked the Wherehouse of Music as a bastion of porn? Apparently they have a rack of the stuff right out there for everybody to see. Personally, I haven't been there in about a decade or so, even though I only live a block away, but maybe I should make my way over there!!! Oh Yais!!!
