tuesday night worlds end for 2009

my tuesday night number for 2009, wrinkled and retired

i was thinking that the last tuesday night race was going to be next tuesday. i'm glad i saddled up and went tonight, because i would have been hanging out at the park with the fishermen next week. it was a really fast race tonight; at least i thought it was. i won my only prime for the 2009 season tonight, so i have that going for me. i also had to gasp for air for 4 or 5 laps after that to recover. i thought i was going to pass out. all for $6! but, as i told hanna tonight, it wasn't about the $6 so much as just wanting to win one stinkin' prime.

i got in pretty good position for the last couple of laps, but the pace was really high and i just couldn't move up. i pushed across the line in the top 10 spots but my placing was really of no consequence.

what did i get out of the tuesday night season this year? for one, it was the first season in years and years that i did most of the races. i only missed a handful of them. it really paid off, as it ended up being most of my intensity training for the year. also, i became quite a bit more aggressive on the bike, something i haven't been able to do since my accident. and, although i did get quite a few 2nd's and 3rd's, the placings were pretty inconsequential compared to the training it provided.

i'm happy my tuesday nights get freed up for other things, but i'm really sad to see this tuesday night season end.
