Rotten Steps

Our deck on the back of the house is 11 years old now, and it shows.  I have periodically power washed it, sealed it, painted it, etc., but nothing can save it from some of it's inherent flaws.  All of the flat boards are screwed down too closely to one another, not allowing water to drain through.  You can imagine that this has lead to some rotten wood, the worst of which has been the steps.  Today I removed the steps and some other rotten wood and replaced them.
Bob Villa I am not.  But I have a saw, a drill, screws, and a measuring tape.  A trip to Home Depot scored me some boards.  Sweating and a lot of mosquito bites got me these new steps.  This has inspired me to replace all of the horizontal boards.  The frame of the deck is intact, so it's simply a matter of using the aforementioned tools along with 22 twelve-foot boards.  What could go wrong?
