Killer Jr Peaced Out AGAIN

Hanna moved back from Dallas just two years ago. It's been really great having her so close, living right up the street from our house and the shop. Just a couple of weeks ago, she blows up the whole thing and says she's moving to Austin as part of a job promotion/advancement thing. Jesus Christ in a rowboat. Anyway, I took a pic of this box because it perfectly describes her packing method. I made an appointment with my chiropractor this week.
I've not helped her move before. And she's moved a lot. It was absolutely my turn. We packed the K-Force (her car) and the Explorer (our car) to the tippy top. I couldn't see a thing. Good thing it's only 850 miles. Anyway, I stopped at Buc-ee's pretty early in the morning, as I started off at 5am. Oddly, Led Zeppelin doesn't hit the same blaring from the overhead speakers at 9am.
Thankfully, I had a good playlist.
Oklahoma is an odd place. I first traveled through there as a 13 year old with my Dad, as there was a huge BMX race there every Thanksgiving. I remember the strange signs, like "Hitchhikers may be Escaped Inmates" and "Don't Drive into Smoke". So there I was, 100 miles into Oklahoma in 2026, having not picked up any inmates but absolutely having to drive into this smoke.
I got to Austin well before dark, which was the goal. The bad news was that Hanna's new apartment wasn't ready to inhabit, as they had just glazed the bathtub, and well...fumes. So we had to make alternate plans, and pizza and salad were in those plans.
Despite not having a spanking new apartment to sleep in, I did have some lovely accommodations for the night.
The next morning was quite busy. But first, we headed to the Meteor for coffee and breakfast. We did not sample the champagne or the lube.
First things first: a parking pass to the apartment complex. Longtime readers will remember my last visit to Hanna's Dallas apartment in 2023. Never going to happen again, my friend!
Even though the new apartment still smelled of toxic bathtub glazing fumes, we dumped the carloads of boxes and bags and bedding and hangers and chairs and desks and clothes and....went for a ride. We are not Austinites yet so we were a little balky in our route choices. But we found at least a couple good roads nearby and zoomed up and down never ending hills with awesome views.

The rest of the day was spent sorting all of the boxes and building up some of the furniture so she could get going with work. (note: a defective coax cable will ruin your hopes of setting up your internet) Definitely a whirlwind trip and no downtime whatsoever. But I'm glad I could lay eyes on her new digs and see her off to her new adventure. Missing her dearly. I didn't know how lucky I was when all three kids were within 5 miles of our home.
....and I eventually drove through this smoke in Oklahoma on the way home, too. Still, no inmates.
